How Much Does It Cost to Send a Parcel from Riyadh to Jeddah?

How WusoolX prices a parcel from Riyadh to Jeddah: the between-regions zone, the base charge for the first 5 kg, chargeable and volume weight with worked examples, next-day express, and when a part load makes more sense.

Sending a few boxes from Riyadh to Jeddah is one of the most common shipments in the Kingdom, whether it is stock for an online shop, documents for a branch or gifts for family. The price depends less on the distance than on two things: the zone your parcel travels in and its chargeable weight. This guide explains both, works through real examples and shows when a part load is the better choice.

For an exact figure, enter your parcel on the parcel delivery page. The instant calculator shows the price before VAT, the VAT and the final price.

How parcel pricing works on WusoolX

Parcels are not priced by the kilometre like a full truck. They are priced by zone, and the zone comes from the two cities:

ZoneWhen it applies
Within the cityPickup and delivery in the same city
Within the regionTwo different cities in the same region
Between regionsTwo cities in different regions

Riyadh is in the Riyadh Region and Jeddah is in the Makkah Region, so a parcel from Riyadh to Jeddah is priced in the between regions zone.

Within each zone the price has two parts:

  1. A base charge that covers the first 5 kg.
  2. A rate per extra chargeable kg above those first 5 kg.

Parcels go up to 300 kg of chargeable weight. Both parts are before VAT, and 15% VAT is added on top. Pickup and delivery are door to door, with one pickup and one drop-off per parcel booking.

Chargeable weight: actual weight vs volume weight

A light but bulky box takes up as much room in a vehicle as a heavy one, so parcels are charged on chargeable weight, which is the higher of:

  • Actual weight: what the parcel weighs on a scale, in kg.
  • Volume weight: length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 5,000.

Chargeable weight is rounded up to the next whole kilogram. If you send several pieces, the volume weights of all the pieces are added together and compared with the total actual weight.

Worked example: a light carton

You are sending one carton of clothes that measures 60 × 40 × 40 cm and weighs 8 kg.

  • Volume weight: 60 × 40 × 40 = 96,000, and 96,000 ÷ 5,000 = 19.2 kg
  • Actual weight: 8 kg
  • Chargeable weight: 20 kg (19.2 rounded up), because the volume weight is higher

So you pay the base charge for the first 5 kg, plus 15 extra kg at the between-regions rate. The clothes weigh 8 kg, but the box is billed as 20 kg.

The dense box of spare parts is billed on its real weight, while the three cartons are billed on their size. The envelope stays well inside the first 5 kg, so only the base charge applies.

How to keep volume weight down

  • Use a box that fits. A carton twice the size you need can double the volume weight.
  • Fill empty space with light padding so boxes do not collapse, without adding bulk.
  • Combine small items into one well-packed carton rather than several half-empty ones.
  • Measure the packed box, including any handles or bulges, so the price you see matches what is collected.

Next-day express from Riyadh to Jeddah

Jeddah is one of the express next-day destinations from Riyadh. Your parcel is picked up from your door in Riyadh and is usually delivered in Jeddah the next day, door to door, and you can track it online with your booking reference.

To help it arrive on time:

  • Have the parcel packed and labelled before the pickup.
  • Drop accurate pins for both addresses.
  • Give a receiver's phone number that will be answered.

When a part load is better than a parcel

Parcels suit boxes and small consignments. Once your goods get heavy or are on a pallet, a part load (LTL) on a shared Dyna is often the better fit. Part loads go up to 3,000 kg and are charged on the higher of the actual weight and the volume in cubic metres × 250 kg.

The two services measure volume differently, so the same shipment has a different chargeable weight in each. Take one pallet of packaged goods, 120 × 100 × 120 cm, weighing 180 kg:

  • As a parcel: 120 × 100 × 120 = 1,440,000, and 1,440,000 ÷ 5,000 = 288 kg chargeable, close to the 300 kg parcel limit.
  • As a part load: 1.2 × 1.0 × 1.2 = 1.44 m³, and 1.44 × 250 = 360 kg chargeable.

As a part load, that pallet from Riyadh to Jeddah currently costs from SAR 209 including VAT. Enter the same dimensions in the parcel calculator to compare the two before you book.

As a rule of thumb:

Your shipmentUsually the best fit
A few boxes or envelopes, up to 300 kg chargeableParcel
Pallets, or 300 to 3,000 kgPart load (LTL)
More than 3,000 kg, or a load that needs the whole truckFull Dyna

Part loads have a minimum charge per shipment and wider pickup and delivery windows, because shipments are consolidated on the route. For heavier freight, 1,000 kg of dry goods from Riyadh to Jeddah as a part load currently costs from SAR 582, and a full Dyna Dry 5T on the same route is from SAR 2,216, both including VAT. Our part load shipping guide explains LTL in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to send a parcel from Riyadh to Jeddah?

Riyadh to Jeddah is priced in the between-regions zone: a base charge that covers the first 5 kg, plus a rate for every extra chargeable kg, before 15% VAT. The exact price depends on your parcel's chargeable weight, so enter the weight and size on the parcel delivery page to see the price before VAT, the VAT and the final price.

How is volume weight calculated for a parcel?

Multiply the length, width and height of the packed box in centimetres and divide by 5,000. For example, a 60 × 40 × 40 cm carton has a volume weight of 19.2 kg. You are charged on the higher of the volume weight and the actual weight, rounded up to the next whole kilogram.

What is the maximum weight for a parcel?

Parcels go up to 300 kg of chargeable weight. For heavier goods or pallets, book a part load, which goes up to 3,000 kg, or a full Dyna for anything larger. A part load can also be better value for bulky or palletised goods under 300 kg, so compare both.

How long does a parcel take from Riyadh to Jeddah?

Riyadh to Jeddah is covered by express next-day delivery: the parcel is picked up from your door in Riyadh and is usually delivered in Jeddah the next day. You can follow it online with your booking reference.

Can I send several boxes in one booking?

Yes. Enter the number of pieces, the total weight and the size per piece. The calculator adds up the volume weight of all the pieces and compares it with the total actual weight. Each parcel booking has one pickup and one drop-off address.
